Stay on Track!

I love riding the train. I take time when traveling on lengthy trips to catch at least one. It is a great way to slow down, see the countryside, costs less money, and meet new people. It also forces me to pack light! It’s not fun to have to carry large pieces of luggage on and off a train. So stay on track! Trains can be very comfortable. Book one today. It can be quite an adventure!

Honey; One Sweet Commodity

Do you know what food never spoils? Suspenseful music….why HONEY of course! Also, if you buy honey that comes from hives in your neighborhood, it can help with allergies as the bees get their nectar from local flowers. You also have the added benefit of supporting your local economy.

I recently watched a wonderful documentary, “Honeyland”, about bee colonies and honey, about how “inferior” honey is being illegally imported into the country and the black-market surrounding hives. Please note the article below. It talks about how honey is such a vital part of our lives and most people have no idea. It is so important that we save our bee colonies and the long-range ramifications if we don’t.

What are you thankful for?

I’m always thankful for my good health. I watched a story today about a guy from Arizona who came to NY to help with the fight against the Coronavirus. He is so amazing. He is 29 and they call him Nurse Ian (Youngblood). While in NY he was getting terrible headaches and eventually had an MRI. He has brain cancer. I wanted to share his inspirational story and I decided to make a small donation to a Go Fund Me page for him. Here is the link for the GoFundMe page and to the Today Show story. If you can, this might be a great way to support one of our many brave front line workers and first responders. Have a great day and stay safe!

Do you have a favorite excuse for not exercising?

I didn’t always enjoy exercising myself. It was an acquired taste if you will. I now really, really miss going to the gym and have had to be more creative on getting my much-needed level of activity. My knees are not the best so instead of running, I walk and lift 3-pound weights in a series of upper body movements. I raise my heart rate while toning my arms. It is a win-win!

So, what’s your excuse? Imagine you are responding to yourself from a more fit perspective and how would you remove that barrier. Then, get up off the couch and get moving.

I would love to hear how things work out for you. Here is a link to follow. https://experiencelife.com/article/no-more-fitness-excuses/

Have you ever had to change your plans?

So, I was supposed to be in Europe on my 2-1/2 months trip of a lifetime to 12 different countries. I was to be in Austria today and of course, with COVID 19, I had to cancel. So instead of being down about it, I did some research and found sites where you can get virtual tours from locals in the area and I had scheduled to get cooking lessons in the homes of local residents and make some traditional meals. I am instead looking at virtual tours and cooking some foods indigenous to the area. Its been fun. Give it a try, you can have a great time. Bon Jour!

Resources: When I had to cancel all my reservations with Airbnb, they were awesome! I also like to help out local tour guides and families that with the tourist business down, they can really use the money and you get a more personalized approach. I would like to encourage you to check out their various virtual tours and in-home experiences. They are fabulous!

There is one site called “eatwith.com” that looks interesting too.

This site gives virtual tour ideas too
